Designing Your Future
A web page is an electronic publication. It is used for communicating
ideas and providing services on the Internet. Creating an effective web page, one that makes an impact on a reader
and communicates your message, involves coming up with appropriate content, suitable design, and appropriate use
of graphics and multimedia.
50 corporate websites were analyzed determining their ease of use and they failed. Corporate websites focus too
much on technical innovations than user needs.
A good website is not about technology. It is about communication and reaching your customers. That is why we at
NETAnnex keep our web designs low key and discourage
the use of high tech gimmicks that only frustrate future customers. You really must understand what you want in
a website before you make your final call on what it will look like.
Things to avoid in design.
Frames: They have so many drawbacks that we just do not recommend them.
Flash: There are still millions of users using
56K modems, so the loading time is time you could be giving them information. So be sure you want that fancy intro or menu or do you want customers to know who you are and what you are about.
Animated GIFs: maybe one but that is about it. Anymore and you will have a visual
distraction that takes away from the content.
Java Script: Mouseovers or little things like that are acceptable. Too much Java
will keep your reader drinking to much Java just to get by it all.
Images: Keep them small and at a reasonable size. We have a loading issue again
when dealing with images.
What you don't have control over is what type of browser they are using or their resolution setting and in some
cases what fonts they have on their system to display your site.
We check it all so when it comes to Design NETAnnex
is there for you.
We also use only four of the most popular search sites to place you on the web.
